The role of microorganisms in soil fertility.

Microorganisms and microbiological processes play an important role in soil fertility and plant nutrition.

The use of microbial products creates conditions for the development of microflora, which in turn has a specific impact on the soil.

Microorganisms and plants have the ability to form biologically active substances: vitamins, amino acids, plant growth stimulants.

Microbial products

contain living microorganisms that colonize the rhizosphere (microbes around the roots) or the interior of the plant and aid its development by supplying essential nutrients to the treated plant and lead to increased yields when added to the soil, seeds or plant surface.

Microorganisms work in symbiosis and create a living system around the plant root and in the substrate:

  • they are a natural anti-stress agent,
  • increase resistance against pathogens,
  • favorably affect the vital functions of the plant, releasing into the environment enzymes, phytohormones and other substances that stimulate plant metabolism,
  • the enzymes produced help break down plant residues,
  • Nitrogen-fixing bacteria have an influence on the nitrogen regime of soils. Free-living nitrogen fixers in soils, together with symbiotic modular bacteria assimilate atmospheric nitrogen and play an important role in maintaining the nitrogen regime of soils,
  • they mobilize the nutrients in the soil and improve their absorption, a large number of microorganisms dissolve /mineralize/ the insoluble forms of Phosphorus and Potassium into easily digestible forms for plants,
  • improve the plant's ability to absorb water,
  • reduce the need to use chemical fertilizers,
  • affects the nitrogen regime of soils.
